About

The Etches Collection: Museum of Jurassic Marine Life opened in the village of Kimmeridge in October 2016. The museum houses the remarkable collection of one man’s passion, bringing to life the stories from deep time through an amazing collection of marine fossils, many of which are unique to science. Steve Etches, a local Kimmeridge fossil collector and expert has, over the last 30 years, discovered, collected and researched over 2,000 incredible late Jurassic Kimmeridgian specimens. His collection contains the most extensive and finest fossil specimens ever found in the Kimmeridgian Clay Formation. For the first time ever, these are on display in a brand new immersive museum which takes the visitor on a journey through underwater life 150 million years ago.
