About

South Beach in Studland Bay is a sandy beach, and is fairly narrow compared to neighbouring Studland beaches. As with other Studland Beaches, South Beach is very popular, particularly during peak periods.

There is a WWII-era pillbox at the northern end of South Beach (known as Redend Point). It is Grade II listed and was built circa 1941 as part of the Studland coastal defences.

Parking

The nearest car park for South Beach is a National Trust car park next to the Bankes Arms pub.

Toilets

There are no toilets on South Beach. The nearest toilets are past the Bankes Arms pub, on the way to Old Harry Rocks.

Accessibility

No toilets available here. Accessible parking spaces are available in the car park.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome here all year. Between 1 May and 30 September dogs must be on a lead less than than two metres in length.

Safety

South Beach is a gently shelving beach, suitable for bathing depending on weather conditions. No BBQs on the beach or heathland and no lifeguard service in operation.
