About

Join the Jurassic Coast Trust’s expert Ambassadors for leisurely, family-friendly lunchtime walks to the Spyway Dinosaur Footprints, just outside Worth Matravers in Purbeck.

Meeting at the famous Square & Compass pub in Worth Matravers, join us for a relaxing stroll to this spectacular dinosaur footprints site, and walk where once roamed giant sauropods.

Walks begin at 12pm on each date, are completed by 2pm, and are led by one of our experienced and knowledgeable local Ambassadors. The walks are gentle and suitable for all ages (including buggies) and most abilities, and well-behaved dogs are also welcome. Perfect for dino fans of all ages! Any questions please email us.

We’re delighted to partner on these walks with Purbeck Ice Cream, whose award-winning ice cream is made just a stone’s throw from the dinosaur footprints. Proceeds from Purbeck Ice Cream’s Jurassic Range of flavours go towards providing FREE tickets for children on all our Dinosaur Footprints Walks. Tickets for Adults are £10 per person, or £5 for Jurassic Coast Trust Members.

Spyway’s footprints date to the late Jurassic period, 145 million years ago. There are more than 100 fossilised tracks preserved in the quarry site, which can be easily accessed from the nearby Priest’s Way walking trail. The footprints were made by giant sauropod dinosaurs, most likely brachiosaurs.

The footprints site at the quarry is owned and managed by the National Trust.

Please note, due to the popularity of these walks, we are unable to offer refunds . All orders are valid only for the date booked and are non-transferable. All orders must include at least one adult's ticket. Thank you.
