Spyway Dinosaur Footprints - aerial view

Join the Jurassic Coast Trust’s expert Ambassadors for leisurely, family-friendly walks to the Spyway Dinosaur Footprints in Purbeck.

Proudly sponsored by Purbeck Ice Cream – all children’s places FREE! Adults £15, with 10% off for Jurassic Coast Trust Members.

Dates: 31 May, 20 June, 4 July, 25 July, 3rd August, 10 August, 15 August, 31 August

Meeting at the famous Square & Compass pub in Worth Matravers at 10 am or 12 pm (see booking details), we will take a leisurely stroll along the Priests Way to the site. Here, dinosaur fans of all ages can explore to their hearts' content as we stand in the fossilised footsteps of Jurassic Giants. Spyway’s footprints date to the late Jurassic period, 145 million years ago, and there are more than 100 fossilised tracks preserved in the quarry site.

All walks will be led by one of our expert Jurassic Coast Ambassadors. The walks are gentle and suitable for all ages, however there are some undulating areas over some uneven quarry workings along with a grassed section and no rest areas, so may not be suitable for all. Please make your own assessment whether everyone in your party can make the walk and whether you want to take any buggies with you. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome too as stock roaming free. The walk takes less than two hours total, finishing up back at the Square & Compass, where there is a parking area just across the road.
